The beginning

A winter, and people with nowhere to go.

Daily Bread House grew out of an encounter one winter. Elsa Roache and her husband met people sleeping rough in Brisbane, and could not leave it there.

Elsa went on to write a book, Don't Give Up on Your Dreams Until Your Dreams Come True, with proceeds going to support people who are homeless. The charity followed.

Daily Bread House is not just about food. It is about feeding the soul, nurturing the mind, and building a stronger, more inclusive community.

All proceeds from the sale of this book go toward supporting Daily Bread House's mission.

The book is $25. Posted, it is $32.60, which is $7.60 for postage and handling. Buy a copy from us in person at an outreach and you pay the $25. Orders are handled on our original site at dailybreadhouse.org.

Our mission is to provide healthy and nutritional meals for those in need. To relieve hunger by offering quality food.

We are committed to being a part of the healing process for people in our community. Our passion is in restoring people's faith and improving their quality of life, so they have hope for a better future.

Daily Bread House Inc is committed to serving our community with love, dignity and respect. Caring is sharing, and that is the whole of it.

What we hold to

Four things that do not change.

Everyone eats

No referral, no assessment, no means test. Hunger is the only qualification.

Dignity first

Food is handed over, not distributed. People are talked to, not processed.

Nothing wasted

Donated food is sorted and used. What we cannot use, we do not accept.

Faith, put to work

Our name comes from the prayer that asks for daily bread. We think that prayer gets answered through people.
